Mix~Mask~&~Pierce

On splitcoaststampers today the challenge was to"poke a hole in it" by featuring paper piercing on our cards. I had two more mixed and masked pieces that I hadn't turned into cards yet, so I took the challenge and put them to work.

This first one was embossed onto a piece of colored cardstock. I colored first with colored pencils then with a blender pen loaded with pastels and finally added white and red gel pen accents.
Another view of the same card
You can see the Canvas bg stamping as well as the blue spray that I used after masking off the butterfly. The sentiment was stamped then die cut and the Turquoise was sponged on while still in the die. I used the Occasions piercing guide to add piercing around my banner.
Stamps: SU-Swallowtail, Itty Bitty Banners, Canvas
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White
Ink: Versamark, Rich Razzleberry, Tempting Turquoise
Accessories: Spritzer, Reinkers, Colored Pencils, Pastels, Blender pen, red and white gel pens, Razzleberry marker, Itty Bitty Banners Framelits, sponge, Occasions Piercing Guide, Piercing Tool
Techniques: Sponging, Masking, Embossing, Paper Piercing,

The second card has a butterfly embossed over a music sheet that had been glued to a piece of card stock and spritzed with a walnut stain. I masked and sponged with Turquoise and Island Indigo.
My piercing this time was done from the back using a guide. The banner was embossed then die cut and sponged and sprayed while in the die. I added a linen thread bow and popped this over my pierced heart.

Paper: Always Artichoke, music sheet, Natural Ivory
Ink: Versamark, Tempting Turquoise, Island Indigo, Tsukineko Eucalyptus Walnut Stain spray
Accessories: Sponge, Bitty Banners Framelits, Linen thread, Black detail embossing powder, marker
