Sponging and Spraying Two Ways

Today's sketch challenge featured a large circle and I was trying to go for less layers so I decided to sponge my circle to define it.

I diecut my circle out of cardstock then laid it over my card base. I initially sponged with Soft Suede. I then sprayed some coffee spray (instant coffee crystals in water leftover from a previous project). I went back with a bit of Chocolate Chip around the edges too.

I ended up wanting to use a ribbon for my horizontal layer so I cut my base piece. I decided to add one more layer with brushed gold. For my hydrangea, I stamped in Encore Gold then embossed in clear for a more muted, vintage feel. When I stamped my hydrangea, I switched to a diecut mask of deli paper so as to be able to stamp right to the edge more easily. I'm thinking about layering that deli paper circle sometime-kind of like vellum!

I layered my sentiment with a distressed edge square and popped it over my ribbon. I used the edge pieces of the dimensionals which are about half size.

Here's a second card I made using the same sketch and using up the circle I'd diecut for my mask. It got a little misty spray on it because it was on my desktop so I added some to my base as well. I sponged Suede and Artichoke on the circle. I scored my horizontal piece and painted in watered down Artichoke. Used a brown bag for my square piece and layered diecut leaves and a twine bow accent.
