Here's the tag out of its pocket. I stamped images from Established Elegance onto Soft Suede dp, tore the edges and sponged them. This is layered over a die cut tag which has Shop Around images wheeled onto it. I added a rub on at the top and my popped sentiment is another rubon. I cut a petal off one of my gold flowers to make leaves for the ceramic flower and tied the charm to a vintage trinket pin.

Silver and Pearls

My family thinks I'm crazy, but this is why I save random things like the foil linings of coffee cans. Today's HYCCT challenge is called Strength of Steel and asks us to use metal elements on our cards. I also used today's sketch in a 5x7" format with the added circle sentiment at the bottom as it seemed to fit there best.

My coffee can foil was embossed in the Manhattan Flowers ef. I then mixed alcohol blending solution, currant ink and pearl mixative to color my roses. I went back with a little of the plain currant to add darker areas. I used the meadow ink to add color to the bg. My dp was embossed in the Elegant Lines ef...since it was thinner paper I ended up with some broken paper with white showing so I sponged with Razzleberry ink. My base is embossed in the MBossabilities Reverence ef and the whole card is embossed. My sentiment is embossed in silver and I added pearl accents around the card.

Stamps: Elegant Greetings
Paper: Pool Party, Wild Wasabi, Rich Razzleberry, Razzleberry Lemonade dp
Paper Size: 5x7
Ink: Versamark, Rich Razzleberry, Adirondak Alcohol Inks: Currant, Meadow, Pearl Mixative, Alcohol Blending Solution
Accessories: MBossabilities Reverence ef, Manhattan Flowers ef, Elegant Lines ef, Celery Organdy Ribbon, Silver ep, Pearls, Candy Dots Brad Base,
Techniques: Embossing, Sponging

Hinged Sentiment

Today's Hope You Can Cling To Challenge is to cover up a sentiment with a hinged or flapped area on our cards. I was playing along with the color challenge and had this card completely done without a flap. I realized that I could hinge the sentiment banner and put another sentiment underneath.
I peeled off my banners, added one more behind to help cover the placement of my sentiment (had to add a punched piece to cover up the tape removal damaged section) and pierced a hole to place my brad. I wanted a bit more oomph to the brad so I punched a circle to place behind it as it was so tiny by itself.

Stamps: Timeless Talk, Clockworks, French Foliage (spatter), Everyday Flexible Phrases
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Bermuda Bay, Real Red, Very Vanilla
Paper Size: A2
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Bermuda Bay, Real Red
Accessories: Vintage Trinkets, Piercing Tool, Dimensionals, Markers, 3/4" and 1" square punches, corner rounder
Techniques: Omitting with Markers, Sponging, Hinged Sentiment

Book Page Christmas CASE

This is my last sample on the CAS Summer Design Team.  Harriet chose a CAS alumni challenge and we are peeking at a great gallery for inspiration this week. I loved this cute Christmas card by Emily/stampingout
I had seen these cute book page trees on Pinterest  and thought they would look great against the Kraft paper.  I used the folded Christmas tree tutorial on splitcoast to make my book page trees.
I punched my 2 1/2" circle from a vintage book-my library sells them for 25cents. I tried to keep at least one side full of print and have some blank spots on the opposite side.

Cut the circle in half

Mark the half way point on the side with the most words.

Fold the left side to the place you just marked.

Fold back this piece toward your previous fold line
*Shameless plug for the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges inserted here-see the leftovers from making pink camo in the background-I'm having a lot of fun joining in the challenges and I think you might too!
Flip your piece over then fold again.

Here's what your tree will look like without any sponging

I used Always Artichoke on mine.

Add a few dots of glue onto the back sides.

Press the tree closed again.

I used a Gelly Roll Clear Star pen to add glittery accents.

I had some Early Espresso that I'd added a wood grain to with an inked up Distressed Texturz plate that I cut to use for my trunk.
Here's another view of the finished card-I added glittery accents on my snow and in the centers of my craft ink snowflakes.  Instead of Emily's top twine and lower dp strip, I used a slightly wider piece of Cherry Cobbler and tied my green twine over it. I popped the front tree on dimensionals.
Stamps: Patterned Pines, Family Reunion
Paper: Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, vintage book page
Paper Size: A2
Ink: Very Vanilla Craft, Always Artichoke, Early Espresso
Accessories: 2 1/2" circle punch, green twine, Gelly Roll pen-Clear Star, Distressed Textrz Plate, Stampin' Dimensionals
Techniques: Folded Christmas Tree, Sponging

My First Canvas

This week's Mixability challenge was called anything goes which gave me the leeway to try my hand at painting on a canvas.  I had found an ugly zodiac canvas in the $.75 bin and decided I had nothing to lose.
You can see another one of the canvases on the left and here's my beginning. I layered a couple of layers of matte white Gesso then laid my stencil and added a thick layer for my rays. After that dried I tinted my Gesso with More Mustard reinker and went through the stencil again to add color. I put a little of the tinted Gesso with more white added in between the raised rays.

I wanted the yellow to be brighter, so I wet a brush and picked up some Crushed Curry from my ink pad lid to paint over the rays.
I added some Gelly Roll Clear Star accents, mainly on the raised areas.
I added a bit of Pumpkin Pie in the same way I'd added the curry, then used a Basic Black marker  to ink up various alphabet stamps and stamped onto the canvas. I went back over with my marker to darken some areas and then added some glitter highlights.
And here is the finished project!
Stamps: Collage Alphabet, Pure & Simple Alphabet, Alphabet Appeal
Paper: Canvas
Ink: Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black (marker)
Accessories: Gesso, More Mustard reinker, Heidi Swapp stencil, paintbrush, Gelly Roll Pen-Clear Star
Techniques: Stencil, Omitting with Markers

Hope Always

Today was the first day of the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges at splitcoast and I'm staying on track so far! I loved Lydia's first challenge which was called Inner Strength that asked us to add some dimension to something on the inside of a card and use a window to it from the outside. I had come across this pretty wall art from Joss & Main and was inspired to go from there. Can't believe I forgot about the swirl on the right because I had the perfect wheel for that, but oh well....maybe next time!
Believe Wall Art from Joss & Main
Here's what I came up with!

Stamps: Summer Silhouettes, Pure & Simple Alphabet Upper, Small Script
Paper: Marina Mist, Chocolate Chip, Dictionsary page
Paper Size: A2
Ink: Brocade Blue and Close to Cocoa Craft Inks, Adirondak Cloudy Blue Paint
Accessories: White and Grey Gesso, Paintbrush, Clear Embossing Powder, Pearls, Natural Trim, Linen Thread, Nestabilities Circles
Techniques: Window, Embossing, Distressing

Read more: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/2431348#ixzz2gXBoptdA    I started off with a dictionary page and coated it with White matte Gesso. It was a bit too stark white (I'd used a newer dictionary instead of my old, yellowed one) so I added some Grey Gesso and then used a baby wipe to remove most of it.

I inked up my leaves with Craft Close to Cocoa then used a paint brush to add some Brocade Blue craft ink as well as some Adirondak Cloudy Blue paint before I stamped the image.

I used my Nestabilities Circles to cut my top panel. I laid this over my card where I wanted the window to go and traced this. I then lined up the smaller circle inside this and then laid the circle the same size as my window around that.

I stamped my upper sentiment in the Brocade Blue and used my brush to mix some paints for the inside sentiment then embossed it with clear ep.  I cut a Chocolate Chip frame and cut out the inside of it so that my window would show through. I had torn my edges of the dictionary page so I distressed and crumpled my frame too.
After assembling it all together, I added some pearl accents and then as I was cleaning my desk (trying to stay up with the straightening as I go during this time of extra challenges!) I found the little burlap accent piece I made earlier so I added that to the window as well.
