Sprayed Gelli Tags

Had a chance to make some Christmas tags using Gelli print snowflakes, Silver Sharpie paint pen doodling, and some sprayed and spattered Heidi Swapp White Color Shine Spray for fun!

This was made with a store bought tag. I stamped in white then used my Sharpie Paint pen to outline the edge and add accents on the snowflake. I added some spatter be dipping a brush into my Heidi Swapp spray and spattering over the card.

These are Martha Stewart snowflake punched Gelli prints with MS petal ink added to the edges. I cut my tags using the Envelope Punch board and used the Silver paint pen to add the faux reinforcers. I also added Gelly Roll Clear Star highlights and some blue and white twine to top it off.

More Gelli print snowflakes with 1/4" circle centers punched from glimmer paper. I stamped my small snowflakes and sentiment, but then went over them with my paint pen because they were too faint. Lots of Silver Sharpie doodling and some dots and then a generous spray and some spatter of my Heidi Swapp white spray.

Vintage Texaco Birthday

     I used the sketch from splitcoaststampers sketch challenge as it was just perfect for the birthday card I was asked to make. I have my card rack at an antique/collectibles store in town and we've recently moved into an old gas station building. The owner's birthday is tonight and we're combining our Christmas party with a celebration of his bday. The vendors from the store have chipped in to buy him a vintage Texaco sign and asked me to make a card to go along with the gift. They specifically mentioned yellow as one of the colors so I went with that instead of white as the color behind the star.

    I stamped my gas pump first and wish I'd thought to remove the framing portion of the stamp, but at one point thought this was the only image I'd use. I embossed it in black and then watercolored with a wet brush dipped in ink from the ink pad lids. I had made a circle element based on the Texaco star but this ended up on the inside of the card. So, I used my Versamarker to ink up only the car portion and omitting the framing and then embossed the car in black ep. I used a sponge to add Suede to the edges and then also stamped some Suede spatter. For my base, I embossed my row of stars (referencing my Texaco star) and used the Sanded bg and sponging to go with my theme. Stamped my sentiment in Midnight Muse and matted my image panel in the same.

My star was made by punching a So Saffron circle. I laid my star stencil over this and sponged in Riding Hood Red. I then laid the bullseye from the same stencil over that and sponged the outer red circle. I punched a "T" in Wild Wasabi and glued that on.  

I used the same Sanded and Itty Bitty Backgrounds to add a bit of "texture" to the base of the card.

Blue Christmas

I had so much fun making the Gelli prints with my daughter the other day. I used several of them on cards and made a BUNCH of tags. Here's a few of the cards from the blue snowflake prints.

Cut a large rectangle from a print then cut that into 4 smaller ones. Sponged along the edges and added some glitter and silver doodles. Cut snowflakes from another print and layered those.

This one is from a print onto deli paper. It had a fainter print pulled onto the back side as well. Again, added silver paint pen highlights and hymn sentiments. Added some glimmer paper centers and a few music notes in silver.

Another from the deli paper print. My sentiment was hard to read so I went back with a Turquoise marker around the silver writing to add detail.

Kept it CAS for this one. Used a Turquoise marker for my doodled framing and swirl then added some glitter pen swirls as well. So much more shimmer IRL!

Guess Who Finally Got A Gelli Plate

    I finally broke down and bought myself a Gelli plate. I played around with a homemade gelatin plate first and it was so much fun! I bought the 8x10" size. Here are some photos from my session today.

Here's my homemade stencil getting placed on the plate (it still has a bit of paint from the last session). I used the SU and Martha Stewart snowflake punches on a transparency sheet.

I blobbed several colors of blue, including a glittery one, and some white and used my brayer to spread it over the stencil.

Here's what's left....these type are good to layer over previous solid prints, but I just used what I had here.

I have a large dictionary from the thrift store and I laid a sheet of that over my paint.

Here's that print...not my fave!

I took my brayed and rolled out the rest of the paint since I didn't have any solids to print over. 

I laid some bubble wrap down into the paint and pressed.

I pressed the wet bubble wrap over the previous print.

Here's how I get the look I like best. You lay the wet stencil down with the wet side up.

Starting the same process; this is still using the original paint that's still on my brayer.

There are all prints I took from the one application of paint! Because my stencil is smaller, most of these have 2 prints on either side of the sheet.

Here's a card I made with a print my daughter and I made yesterday using a store-bought snowflake stencil.
